About us
We are Arkvy, an independent Scandinavian brand focused on how we move in the mountains and what we leave behind when we do. Founded in Sweden. Rooted in Nordic minimalism, we create natural ski wax from biogenic, 100% plant-based materials, delivering clean glide without petroleum, PFAS, or unnecessary additives.
We believe in a future where we live and create with nature. Where materials are grown, not extracted, and design supports the landscapes we move through. Where outdoor motion evolves with the environment, not at its expense.
Shaped by long days outside.
We looked at what the industry accepted and decided not to.
Season after season, we studied and tested materials across changing temperatures, snow types, and terrain. Instead of adding more, we stripped ingredients back, searching for fewer, better materials that hold up in real use.
No PFAS. No fluoro. No paraffin. No petroleum. No synthetic glide boosters. Not because it's fashionable, but because we believe materials carry responsibility. Fewer ingredients. Fewer compromises.
The result: A considered ski wax. A product grown, not extracted.
The context matters.
For decades, ski wax has largely relied on fossil-derived hydrocarbons, often enhanced with fluorinated compounds for increased water and dirt repellence. While PFAS are being restricted globally, most fluoro-free waxes remain petroleum-based.
The restrictions are narrower than they sound. Fluorinated wax is banned in competition, not in training or in shops. Across most of Europe and the US it is still legal to buy today Winter 2026/2027.
As snow melts every spring, these chemicals move into soil and groundwater. Conventional water treatment does not remove them.
Fluorocarbons were just the additive. The base was always crude oil. Paraffin is a petroleum derivative. Non-renewable. Extracted through an energy-intensive process that drives climate change, the same climate change melting the mountains the ski industry depends on.
We design for the places we want to return to.
Fewer ingredients. Fewer compromises.
A northern perspective shaped by long winters and quiet restraint.
We believe materials carry responsibility.
That's why we develop natural ski wax from plant-based materials, a considered skiwax that hasn't changed since the 1940s.
Material First
Every decision begins with the material. Not the trend, not the margin, not the market. If the material cannot justify itself, neither can the product.
Reduction as Method
We remove before we add. Fewer ingredients, fewer steps, fewer claims. What remains should be there because nothing else will do.
Built for Conditions
We design for real use in changing terrain, not for a single ideal condition.
Designed for Duration
A product that holds up reduces the need for another. Longevity is a material decision before it is anything else.
